Worry Your Way around the World

Ellis Weiner has written a brilliant satirical comedy that is just what the doctored ordered for all who are suffering from the moving abroad "blues."

"To travel to a foreign country, either for business or pleasure, is to leave behind every familiar component of your life and willingly surround yourself with strangness. Nothing can be taken for granted. Everything becomes a fit subject for worry."
This description could not be more accurate. Anyone who moves to a foreign land will be confronted with the immediate strangeness. At one moment they are exciting and new and then at another they are nothing short of complete frustration. Sometimes you may feel like a child learning to ride a bike all over again. Other times you are as inspired as anyone who has completed a long race. Moving abroad will fill expose your emotions and sensations in ways that living in your native land never could. It will challenge you and motivate you at the same time. Trying to understand what you're experiencing can be very difficult.

Situational comedy is a great cure for alleviating the stress that can build up. You may want to check out an old Seinfeld episode, such as "The Subway" (episode 30, season 3) or "The Airport" (Episode 52, Season 4). Ellis Weiner's book "The Joy of Worry" certainly has a few pages related to travel that will set you at ease.
